Fighting the Unseen Enemy, Together

Recent talk of freedoms we are giving up (or not) to fight the coronavirus reminded me of a memento my mother left for me: Her War Ration Book No. 3 from World War II, complete with unused coupons and dated 1943. She and others sacrificed much, including their lives and the lives of their children, so we could live free from the tyranny that was their only clear alternative.
Let us recall our mothers, and fathers, and aunts and uncles, and grandparents and great grandparents, and their sacrifices as we fight our current enemy, through distance and patience, and by girding to fight next so that all may be free, treated equally under the law, in remembrance of all of those who fought so selflessly before us.
