Promotions Planner: Winter Is Coming
Start presenting ideas to clients for campaigns centered on December observances.
Now that summer is coming to a close, it’s time to start presenting promotional campaign ideas to clients based on December observances. From National Bartender Day to National Salesperson Day, the last month of the year presents a number of opportunities for end-buyers to promote their people and their brands.
Dec. 1/National Bartender Day
This day is set aside to recognize the dedication of bartenders around the country who often work long hours, serving customers late into the night.
PITCH: Bars and restaurants can offer their employees items to encourage self-care, like gift sets containing gourmet food.
Dec. 2/National Mutt Day
Animal advocates can leverage this observance to encourage adoption of mixed-breed canines. It’s an ideal opportunity for pet-oriented businesses to promote dogs looking for loving homes.
PITCH: Approach shelters, pet stores and veterinarian practices about endorsing mixed-breed dogs with branded items, like signage and pet items for new adoptees.
Dec. 8/National Salesperson Day
Inbound marketing firm HubSpot recently reported that a third of salespeople left their jobs in both 2021 and 2022. Recommend that organizations recognize their teams for a job well done, and to encourage them consistently.
PITCH: Distribute personalized relaxation sets for salespeople to use when they’re off the clock.
Dec. 10/Human Rights Day
This observance marks 75 years since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was proclaimed by the United Nations – the pledge enshrines the rights that all people are entitled to, including dignity, liberty, the right to life, freedom of movement and the right to property.
PITCH: Help cultural centers host educational sessions this day and suggest they distribute items like bags and totes.
Dec. 30/National Bacon Day
Americans love their bacon, and this observance celebrates this classic breakfast food. Eateries that offer bacon – including both sit-down and takeout restaurants – can promote their offerings this day.
PITCH: Consider signage and apparel for staff that can also be sold onsite, like a T-shirt with a “National Bacon Day” message.
