Vantage Apparel & Redwood Classics Launch Custom Color Program

The program allows distributors to PMS-match colors on select Canada-made garments, with lower minimums and quicker turnaround than typical.

Key Takeaways

• Counselor Top 40 supplier Vantage Apparel (asi/93390) introduced the Custom Color Apparel Program with Redwood Classics Apparel (asi/81627), offering PMS-matched garments made in Canada with minimums as low as 300 pieces and turnaround in as little as six weeks.

• The program provides brands with duty-free, North American-made apparel that avoids tariffs and global supply chain risks, while giving distributors greater speed, precision and creative control.

Counselor Top 40 supplier Vantage Apparel (asi/93390) has launched a new solution to help distributors source custom PMS-matched apparel without having to go overseas.

The Custom Color Apparel Program, powered by Redwood Classics Apparel (asi/81627), allows brands to bring their exact colors to life – quickly, easily and in lower quantities than before, according to Vantage. Minimums are as low as 300 pieces and can be produced in as few as six weeks after color sign-off, the supplier says. The Canadian-made blanks from Redwood Classics in the program all qualify for duty-free status under the USMCA, keeping them safe from tariffs and international trade disruptions.

The items are available through Redwood Classics US by Vantage (asi/81641).

The Northerner crewneck (W1621) from Redwood Classics US by Vantage (asi/81641) is one of the styles eligible for the Custom Color Apparel Program.

“This custom color program redefines what’s possible in custom apparel,” said Rob Watson, CEO of Vantage Apparel and a member of the Counselor Power 50 list of the most influential people in promo. “By enhancing our collaboration with Redwood Classics, we’re giving brands the ability to create on-brand, North American-made garments with speed, precision and a level of creative control that’s never been this accessible.”

The program is fairly straightforward, according to the two suppliers. First, choose from five available Canada-made styles: the Northerner crew (W1621), Yukon polo (W1622), Hudson hoody (W1623), Kayak tee (W8902) and Mountain tee (W8903). All of the garments are gender-neutral and available in sizes from small to 3XL. Next, send your PMS color, and Redwood Classics will match and provide swatches for approval before production begins. Finally, submit your artwork, and Vantage will decorate the custom-color garments in-house.

“At Redwood Classics, our mission has always been to preserve and elevate domestic apparel manufacturing,” said Kathy Cheng, president of Redwood Classics Apparel and a member of ASI’s Promo for the Planet advisory board. “This collaboration with Vantage allows us to give brands a unique opportunity: high-quality, Canadian-made garments in their exact brand colors, delivered with speed and without the uncertainty of global supply chains.”

In the summer of 2024, Vantage Apparel announced an exclusive partnership with Redwood Classics Apparel, becoming the U.S. provider of the brand’s premium clothing styles.

Custom colors have been trending in apparel, with technology like garment dye helping to lower costs and speed up the process.

Vantage Apparel ranked 35th on Counselor’s most recent list of top suppliers, with 2024 North American promotional products revenue of $55 million.
