Promotions Planner: The Importance of Recognition
Start presenting ideas to clients for campaigns centered on October observances.
October marks the beginning of the busy Q4 gifting season, and the month happens to be full of special days set aside to recognize dedicated workers – including customer service reps, coaches and first responders. Check out the product and campaign suggestions here based on October observances.
Oct. 2 - 6/Customer Service Week
Every year for the first full week of October, customer service reps are recognized for their hard work and dedication in caring for clients. Propose that companies with CSR departments distribute food gifts at celebratory lunches.
PITCH: A gift bundle with sweet treats will be appreciated by customer service reps and their families and friends.
Oct. 4/World Financial Planning Day
Hosted by the International Organization of Securities Commissions, this yearly observance promotes awareness of the importance of financial planning. Advisers at banks and other financial institutions can leverage the day to promote their services.
PITCH: For clients who visit financial planners this day, think giveaways like pens, drinkware and tote bags.
Oct. 6/National Coaches Day
This day is set aside to recognize athletic coaches’ dedication to their teams and respective sports. It’s an ideal opportunity for schools and youth leagues to acknowledge coaches in front of staff, athletes and parents.
PITCH: Personalize apparel in team colors that can be presented to coaches publicly this day.
Oct. 11/National Fossil Day
Established in 2009, the National Park Service has hosted this day to celebrate paleontological and geological history in the U.S. The NPS encourages parks, museums and schools to host educational sessions this day.
PITCH: Small dinosaur-themed items, like pencils, erasers and bookmarks, would make perfect giveaways for youth audiences.
Oct. 28/National First Responders Day
Congress established National First Responders Day in 2017 in order to honor police, firefighters and emergency medical technicians. Stations and firehouses can host community events to promote their services.
PITCH: Encourage first responders to distribute fun items imprinted with their name and contact information.
