A leadership transition at Counselor Top 40 supplier PCNA (asi/66887) this summer brought Josh Militello to the company as CEO following the retirement of former Counselor Power 50 member Neil Ringel. (Ringel remains involved as an adviser and board member.) Joining Militello in shaping PCNA’s direction is Mark Gammon, who arrived more than a year ago and was quickly promoted to senior vice president of sales in December.
Together, the two make their debut on this year’s Counselor Power 50 list. Militello is an industry newcomer and Gammon a two-decade veteran, and both are committed to dialing in on the needs and experiences of their distributor clients. One of Militello’s key impressions as he got his feet under him was that PCNA already had a very powerful operational foundation, but had an opportunity to strategically align with and learn from their customers. The goal, Militello says, is to push PCNA to become “hands down best in class.”
Militello had familiarity with the promo industry through his background in consumer goods, having most recently served as president of Dometic Mobile Cooling, which manages the Dometic, Igloo and Cool Gear brands globally. He also held senior leadership roles at a variety of firms, including Igloo, Bang & Olufsen America, Homedics and Coleman. The role at PCNA closely aligned with his leadership approach while offering an opportunity to try something new, even at this stage of his career.
“Two years from now, we need to be the best player in the market,” Militello says. “That doesn’t mean the biggest, but we need to be the best at what we do every single day, day in and day out. And people should want to work with us because of that.”
AI Perspective
Militello: “The fact that you can convert any type of art or digest an email order and then respond back to the customer in a meaningful way – I think it's just going to speed up our processes. You can't be so impersonal that people don't want to do business with you, but the opportunity to streamline a lot of these things now exists where eight months ago it didn't. And that's how fast we're moving.”
Gammon, in contrast, joined following a decade of leadership at fellow Counselor Top 40 supplier Cap America (asi/43792), as well as time in management at Counselor Top 40 distributor The Vernon Company (asi/351700). He echoes Militello’s view that a passion toward building up their customers’ businesses is crucial for moving the supplier forward.
“Just because we’re a big company doesn’t mean we need to act like it,” Gammon says. “Every choice that we make should make our distributors a better business. Everything that we do is distributor focused, and historically, we may not have had that viewpoint.”

To make that happen, Militello, Gammon and the rest of the PCNA team are focused on the digitalization of the company and growing e-commerce without losing the human touch – including rethinking how they’re selling to their customers as consumers, not just businesses. They both use AI in a practical, proactive sense for tasks like data analysis or streamlining processes that free up time to help on the relational side of the business, internally and externally. Both PCNA and its subsidiary ETS Express (asi/51197) were recognized on this year’s Counselor Best Places to Work List for their flexibility and culture of respect, with ETS ranking fourth-highest among extra-large companies (250 employees and over).
“It really is kind of a nice big family,” Militello says. “And that alone makes working in this industry a joy.”
AI Perspective
Gammon: “We’re using technology to make more time for each other, whether it's internally, or externally for our clients. I don't want our sales team to be pouring over Excel spreadsheets to try to figure out categorically where we can help our clients; we want AI to tell us where we can help our clients. It comes down to picking the tools and utilizing them to make that happen. Personally, I use it to plan vacations or help with anything I don't have an idea about, like around the home when I don't know how to fix something. From a professional standpoint, I think it's key. It's here and it's making us way more efficient to have more time for each other.”
Another top priority? Product – especially retail brands. PCNA has continued to build up its hefty portfolio of retail brands: inking partnerships with golf brands like Caddy Splash and Blue Tees Golf, becoming the exclusive provider of Stanley 1913 drinkware for the industry, and embracing the continued massive popularity of the Owala drinkware brand from ETS.
Ultimately, though, the company’s broad professional focus remains on building trust and removing any friction points for its distributor customers.
“We want to make sure that our clients have everything they need to be successful,” Gammon says.
“That doesn’t just mean product, process, decoration,” adds Militello. “It means people, and developing people to make sure they’ve got a home at PCNA.”
