Sales fell nearly 5% last year for The Vernon Company, prompting a one-spot drop on this year’s list. Still, the Newton, IA-based firm spent the year investing heavily in technology to improve the customer experience and internal processes, which continues to be a priority for Vernon. The Counselor 2026 Best Place to Work also added new companies under its umbrella, and, most notably, launched On-Demand Stores, an e-commerce order processing platform that Vice President of Sales and Marketing Lisa Hubbard says has opened doors to new business. “Our partnerships with our suppliers and other business relationships,” she adds, “have grown immensely as we continue to expand and invest.”
