First Lady Melania Trump Brings Promos To Hospital
First lady Melania Trump visited Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia on Wednesday, speaking briefly at a conference for the National Convening on Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). Then Trump toured the neonatal care unit to learn about the treatment given to newborns suffering from opioid withdrawal. And she just so happened to bring some promotional products.
Charles Machion, senior VP and senior counsel for ASI, was at the hospital that same day. His daughter had just given birth to twin boys – one weighed in at 6 pounds and Charlie weighed 4 pounds, 4 ounces. Because he was underweight, Charlie had to stay in the neonatal care unit, where he received a very special visitor.
Machion said that the first lady spent a good hour visiting the people in the unit, including his family, and gave his grandson a baby blanket emblazoned with her signature motto “Be Best.”
Trump's visit was one of a number of stops to promote her "Be Best" campaign, which focuses on issues affecting children such as the importance of healthy pregnancies. She has visited several hospitals over the past year, making NAS an increasingly important focus of her platform.
