The Specialty Company (asi/341203) is adding yet another company under its umbrella.

The Ridgeland, MS-based distributor has inked a deal to acquire 3tree Marketing Co (asi/344537), a promo and marketing firm company headquartered in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

3tree’s capabilities and services include logoed merchandise and apparel, e-commerce, fulfillment, print production, packaging and kitting. It was founded in 2006 by Kevin Van Rossum, who has served as the firm’s president since.

“What impressed us about 3tree really starts with Kevin and what he has built over the last 20 plus years,” said Sam Riden, CEO of TSC. “Throughout this process, we’ve gotten to know Kevin well. The way he talks about his people and his clients, along with the care he has put into finding the right partner for this next chapter, says a lot about what he has built.”

As part of the acquisition, Van Rossum will become a partner in TSC and serve in the role of president of Milwaukee operations. He will remain actively involved with clients, sales and the continued growth of the Milwaukee branch, TSC said. 3tree’s 24 employees will also join the TSC team, bringing the company to 88 team members.

“As I got to know Sam and the TSC leadership team, the similarities in how we think about our people, our clients and the way we want to do business became very clear,” said Van Rossum. “This partnership gives us an opportunity to take everything that makes 3tree special and build on it, leveraging greater resources and expanded capabilities to support our client partners.”

The acquisition marks TSC’s second in the past 90 days, and its seventh in six years. In July, the distributor added Kreative Marketing Kompany to its portfolio, expanding operations into Mississippi, Texas, Minnesota and Ohio and adding remote team members across the U.S. and world. Other purchases include St. Paul, MN-based Promotional Alliance (2024); Apex, NC-based Perfect Promotions & more (asi/293554; 2024); St. Louis, MO-based MPGTandem (2022); Sinking Spring, PA-based Lasting Image Promotional Products (2021); and Katy, TX-based Ice Blue Advertising (2020).

Riden added that TSC’s most recent purchase offers “an opportunity to expand our footprint in the Midwest while adding strong client relationships and capabilities that complement what we already do. We’re excited to welcome 3tree to TSC and really looking forward to what we can build together.”
