CPSC Recalls Wireless Charging Pads

The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an official recall for an estimated 64,000 wireless charging pads. The chargers can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

The charging pads, made in China and sold by Broomfield, CO-based Imagine Nation Books/Collective Goods, are circular and have clear plastic edges and a black plastic center with red trim. So far, Imagine Nation Books/Collective Goods has received 10 reports of chargers overheating and causing minor damage to bedding and furnishings, though no injuries have yet been reported.

The chargers were sold as the Pro Charge Power Wireless Charging Pad (SKU #74655) and the Sharper Image Wireless Charging Pad (SKU #74709), and include a black USB power cable. The words “Pro Charge Power” and “Wireless Charging Pad” are printed on the front, while the SKU is printed on the bottom. They were sold at various toy, gift and electronics stores, as well as book fairs, nationwide between March 2018 and March 2019, for $10 or $11.

Consumers are asked to stop using the chargers immediately and to contact Imagine Nation Books/Collective Goods for a full refund.
