Over the past decade, the company said it has recycled 77% of the total waste it generates, diverting more than 12.3 million pounds of waste from landfills. Orbus’ recycling initiatives ensure that waste such as cardboard, paper, aluminum, fabric, steel and other materials are properly recycled. Last year, the supplier continued to work with wood recycler Jimenez Pallets Inc., using wood waste to create pallets and mulch. Other local recycling partners included Mid America Paper Recycling, Groot Recycling & Waste, and Elgin Recycling.

“We are proud of the measures we’ve taken to maintain and evolve our environmental efforts over the years,” said Natalie Whited, vice president of marketing. “Diligence in eco-conscious practices and the introduction of recyclable graphic materials support Orbus’ mission towards a more sustainable future.”

In addition to its ongoing recycling efforts, Orbus has implemented several other eco-conscious practices at its facilities, including 100% motion-sensor LED lighting, water dispensers and automatic water fixtures. Orbus uses UPS carbon-neutral shipments and has been ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management certified since 2010. In 2015, the company also implemented a product rental program designed to help limit waste.

The supplier said it’s also incorporating green products into its lineup, recently introducing a 100% PVC-free, woven coated fabric for its line of retractable banner stands. The fabric is phthalate-free; 100% recyclable; maintains a tight, durable structure that won’t curl; and holds up outdoors, according to Orbus.
