Pierre Montaubin, CEO of Counselor Top 40 supplier Koozie Group (asi/40480), moves up one spot on this year’s Counselor Power 50 list. Chief among his and Koozie Group’s achievements in the last year has been an influx of talent into its sales, marketing, product and finance departments, which “positions us well to take the company to the next level,” Montaubin says.

Early this year, Koozie Group announced the successful integration of former Counselor Top 40 supplier Garyline. The consolidation has “no impact on our customers or head count,” according to Montaubin. “There were many positive outcomes for distributors, including moving ceramic drinkware to our Missouri facility for improved shipping times and costs for customers in 25-plus states,” he adds.

In response to the challenging economic environment this year, Montaubin has pushed Koozie Group to focus on areas it can control: tightening operations and investing in innovation and quality, he says. For instance, the company built Kai Link, a tool that allows distributors to look up information, including orders, product details, pricing and live inventory through existing AI assistants. “Our goal is to be ‘rebound ready,’” he adds, “so whatever the economy does next, we’re positioned to move faster than our competitors, not scrambling to catch up.”

AI Perspective

“I use AI every day, and our goal is company-wide adoption. Our approach has always been people-first: AI should lighten the load on our team and free them up to focus on what matters most for our customers, not replace the relationships we’ve built. Kai, our AI assistant, and Kai Link, our MCP [Model Context Protocol] connector, are the first of several initiatives we’re rolling out to simplify doing business with us and give our customers real business insights that make their jobs easier too. Looking ahead to 2027 and beyond, I believe AI will augment our capabilities to serve our customers better, respond faster and deliver better products.”
