Introducing the Wearables Fashion Faceoff Contest
This year, Wearables partnered with Vantage Apparel (asi/93390) and Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia for a fun, fashion-forward contest to help teach the next generation of designers about embroidery and screen printing. Juniors in Moore’s fashion program spent the year designing and constructing a male and female athleisure look that walked down the runway at the school’s annual fashion show this month. Six of those juniors took on Wearables’ Fashion Faceoff challenge: They created an original embellishment for a Vantage garment to complement one of their athleisure looks.
We followed along with the contestants throughout the process – from initial sketches to the final runway-ready look. Last month, our judges evaluated the students’ athleisure looks and Vantage-produced add-on, scoring each based on marketability, technical craftsmanship and overall artistic appeal. The first-prize winner will receive $250, and second and third place will receive $100 each. Winners will be announced in the August issue of Wearables.
