I Earned My MASI: Aimee Zeidman

Aimee Zeidman is the owner and director of operations at Unforgettable Goods (asi/348200) in New City, NY. She earned her MASI in December 2018.

Who in the business world do you admire most?

Alli Webb of Drybar, a chain of salons that specializes in hair straightening services. She had a vision of how she could help others and found a way to turn that into a successful reality. I admire the fact that she started her company with her family and keeps it “close to home” that way.

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, what would it be about and what actor would play you?

It would definitely be about a woman who has overcome a lot of adversity and challenges to rise up to success. I’d have to be played by a female lead who’s strong with a sensitive side. Those tears have to be believable!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

“Always do the right thing. It may not be the easiest or quickest or most liked solution, but it will make you a better person.” It’s the standard by which I live my life.

What’s one thing you’d do to improve the industry?

Address vendor accountability. One of the toughest obstacles that distributors face is the lack of concern for quality control and deadlines. Being at the mercy of someone else to get your order done right and on time is very stressful.

What’s on your business and personal bucket lists?

Business: Grow, hire more staff and eventually expand to an office with several full-time employees servicing all of our clients’ needs. And bring on a full-time social media director!

Personal: Travel! I really want to see places like Greece and Spain!

What’s one sentence you’d like to hear from your boss?

Since technically I’m the boss, I’d like to hear me tell myself, “We just hit the million-dollar mark!”

If you could choose an age to remain forever, which would you choose?

The mid 30’s. You’re young enough that you’re still healthy and have energy for life, but old enough to be respected in your career and industry.

What would you do with your “15 minutes” of fame?

Sign some autographs, take some selfies, grab a coffee and get back to work!
