Promotions Planner: Showing Appreciation
Start presenting ideas to clients for campaigns centered on March observances.
The month of March is chock-full of opportunities for end-buyers to show appreciation to varying audiences – including employees, healthcare workers and loyal customers. It also marks the first day of spring, ideal for marking National Plant a Flower Day. Use the ideas here to get a head start on promotional campaigns based on March observances.
March 1/Employee Appreciation Day
Held each year on the first Friday of March, this observance is an opportunity for employers in any industry to recognize and thank their hardworking team members.
PITCH: Suggest that management distribute a fun item with the company’s logo and a thank-you message.
March 12/National Plant a Flower Day
Garden centers, nature preserves and schools are sure to appreciate the opportunity to raise awareness of the beauty of flowers and their importance to the earth’s ecosystems.
PITCH: Encourage schools to distribute flower seed packets to students and create a garden area where the seeds can be planted after the winter frosts.
March 19/World Social Work Day
First held in 2007 by the International Federation of Social Workers, this day spotlights the dedication of social workers around the world and the important work they do on behalf of individuals and societies.
PITCH: Present high-end garments to social work facilities – management can brand them and add staff members’ personalization.
March 25-31/ National Physicians Week
Dr. Kimberly Jackson, a pediatrician in Alabama, founded this week-long observance in 2016 to recognize physicians’ commitment to their patients. It took on increased importance during the COVID pandemic.
PITCH: Present useful items that healthcare facilities can give on each of the seven days to result in a gift bundle – think drinkware, apparel, tech accessories and self-care items.
March 29/Mom & Pop Business Owners Day
This day is set aside to celebrate the hard work (and long hours) of small-business owners across the nation, from retail stores, to restaurants, to hardware stores and hair salons.
PITCH: Help local small businesses advertise their products and services this day with sidewalk signage promoting the observance.
