The Bright Side: US Open Merch Sold From Brookline Pro Shop to Benefit Charity

It’s a great example of using branded merchandise for altruistic ends.

Branded merchandise for one of the biggest professional golf tournaments in the world is being used for a good cause.

The U.S. Open, the third of golf’s four major championships, will be played at Brookline Golf Course in Brookline, MA, from June 13 to 19. It’s being jointly hosted by the Town of Brookline and the golf course, formally known as Robert T. Lynch Municipal Golf Course.

White embroidered hole flags are among the U.S. Open merch items for sale.

While the event is still a month and a half away, the Brookline Golf Course pro shop has already started selling U.S. Open merch – with an altruistic aim. Proceeds from sales of the branded items will be distributed to local Brookline nonprofits and charities.

Items include commemorative embroidered hole flags, T-shirts, headwear, quarter-zips, polo shirts, mugs, tumblers, outerwear and more. The logoed items are on sale in the pro shop through early June.

“We have something for every member of the family,” Justin Lawson, general manager of Brookline Golf Course, said in a statement. “We are grateful for all those in the local community who have already visited the golf shop and supported the local charities who will be benefiting from these merchandise offerings.”

The sale of the merchandise is a local fundraising effort developed under a policy adopted by Brookline’s Community Partnership Committee (CPC), which includes representatives of the town, community and the country club.

Unlike merch for the Masters, branded gear for the U.S. Open is also available online for purchase. Sales from the online shop are not tied to the Town of Brookline/Brookline Golf Course charitable initiative.
