Pro Wrestling Company Turns To Promotional Products

Impact Wrestling is arguably the second-biggest pro wrestling organization in the United States, holding live events throughout North America and airing a weekly program on Pop TV. Since 2002, the company has struggled to escape the shadow of juggernaut World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), presenting an adult-oriented, faster-pace product as an alternative to the P.G. style of its competition. In recent years, Impact has struggled to stay in business due to a lethal cocktail of numerous management changes, massive talent departures and shifting television homes and timeslots. As a result, ratings and live attendance plummeted, leaving the once-promising organization as the joke of the industry.

In December of 2017, parent company Anthem Sports and Entertainment announced the hiring of Don Callis and Scott D’Amore as executive vice presidents to take charge of Impact Wrestling’s day-to-day operations. Since then, the company has gone through a rebranding of epic proportions. The wrestling veterans have packed the roster with fresh, hungry talent, cherry-picking buzzworthy names from the minor leagues and bringing back beloved pioneers. In a drastic change from previous policy, they’ve partnered with fellow wrestling companies to share wrestlers, creating dream matches for the audience. Additionally, they’ve partnered with streaming service Twitch to produce exclusive content and revitalized the company’s pay-per-view model.

Traditionally, Bound For Glory is the company’s biggest show of the year – its version of WrestleMania. In order to capitalize on the company’s newfound momentum, Impact found a helpful sponsor for this year’s event in New York City: Canadian distributor COMDA Advertising Connections. As part of the company’s pledge to “earn back one fan at a time,” Impact turned to promotional products to rejuvenate its image among the wrestling community.

“COMDA is extremely excited for the opportunity to be the presenting sponsor of Bound for Glory,” Michael Warren, president of COMDA, said in a press release. “We are very impressed with the level of talent at Impact Wrestling and particularly enthusiastic about the lineup at Bound for Glory. We see this as a unique situation where we can help promote a fantastic event and at the same time bring awareness to a broad audience of what COMDA can do for businesses of all sizes.”

As part of the buildup to Bound For Glory, COMDA gave out branded trucker caps, baseball caps and beanies to fans. Impact welcomed the promotion with open arms, incorporating the distributor in the event’s hashtag #BFGCOMDA and urging fans to go to COMDA’s website to order the gear. Callis, who also handles commentary on the weekly show, was never seen on camera without one of the hats.

During the event last Sunday, COMDA representatives were in attendance, giving out branded, illuminated pens to eager fans. Folks who purchased the VIP package were even luckier, receiving a gift bag full of koozies, coasters, water bottles and rally towels, all emblazoned with the COMDA and Bound For Glory logos.
