Too many embroiderers are undercharging for their products and services, according to Joyce Jagger, an industry consultant known as The Embroidery Coach. The problem, she says, is that they often set their price lists based on what competitors are charging, rather than thinking about how much they need to earn to turn a profit. Decorators need to first figure out their costs – which includes the cost of their own time – before figuring out how much to charge for their services.
