Show Off Your Furry Friends With ASI #PromoPets

Over the next month, post a photo of a pet wearing, playing with or posing near a logoed product for a chance to win prizes.

The dog days of summer aren’t over just yet – thanks to ASI’s newest social media campaign, #PromoPets. Beginning Friday, Aug. 26 (aka National Dog Day), you’ll have a chance to put your pet – and promo – in the spotlight.

Although certain pandemic trends have been short-lived, pet spending is unlikely to decrease this year as more Americans have added four-legged friends to their families. As people have returned to the office, it’s spurred growth in ancillary industries like daycares and obedience schools. And some people are even adding a second pet to their household to keep the first one company.

This pandemic-induced pet boom led Elieza Bague, social media producer at ASI, to launch the end-of-summer #PromoPets campaign.

“PromoPets was inspired by my dog that I got last February,” Bague said. “I thought it would be neat to see the promo industry share pictures of their furry friends.”

The rules for the #PromoPets contest are simple. Just snap a photo of a pet posing with or wearing branded promo like a logoed pet bandana or toys. Create a fun post on social media using the hashtag #PromoPets. Lastly, tag ASI on one of its social media channels: Facebook (@adspecialtyinstitute), LinkedIn (@advertisingspecialtyinstitute), Instagram (@asicentral) or Twitter (@asicentral).

Each week, a pet promo star will be announced. Starting Aug. 26 and ending Sept. 26, ASI will choose one winning post per week and award its creator with a $25 Amazon gift card.

With pet spending continuing to grow, opportunity for pet-related promotional products has also increased. As of April, spending on pets and related products was up 28%, compared to 2019 – significantly higher than the 9.6% increase in grocery spending over the same period, according to The Wall Street Journal.

“Pet accessories are something I collect now,” Bague said. “My dog basically has a closet of bandanas.”
