Through the company’s 1:1 Initiative, Stormtech donates 1% of its global sales each year to providing apparel to Street2Peak and the Take a Hike Foundation; both nonprofits take at-risk youth from alternative schools on outdoor adventure trips.
“We wanted to support these kids, and now they’re wearing new, quality products that keep them dry and comfortable,” says Jeff Silcock, senior manager of marketing operations. “We have plans to expand it further in Canada and even into the U.S.”
“Giving back is definitely more important in today’s culture and it’s becoming more of companies’ DNA.”Jeff Silcock, Stormtech Performance Apparel
The 1:1 Initiative is just one piece of Stormtech’s ongoing commitment to corporate responsibility, which also includes a responsible supply chain, PFC-free fabrics and product safety.
“If sales are your motivation for giving back, it’s not the right fit for you,” he says. “It should be based on your core values. But it’s definitely important in today’s culture and it’s becoming more of companies’ DNA. It enhances your value proposition, and our corporate social responsibility efforts help us stand out.”
