Five years ago, Scott Henderson and Jordan Bartlett, attended the same educational meeting and gala held to raise awareness of the difficulties children in the foster care system face. Listen to this podcast with Logan Altman about his company’s work with fostered youth.
Today, Doing Good Works (named Counselor magazine’s second fastest-growing distributor this year) operates on what it calls the 10/20/30 model: 10% of sales go back to supporting children aging out of the program through mindset training, job placement, resume writing and college scholarship programs; 20% of employees’ workweeks are spent actively volunteering in the local community; and 30% of its workforce were once in the foster system.
“We want everyone to know that they don’t have to spend more or make a huge shift in buying habits to make a difference.”Logan Altman, Doing Good Works
“Some buyers require the social responsibility aspect, others just need the right price and product,” says Logan Altman, director of customer experience. “Some make no connection with the impact, others tell us they wouldn’t go anywhere else. But we want everyone to know that they don’t have to spend more or make a huge shift in buying habits to make a difference.”
