Wise Business Forms Acquires Phoenix Data, Inc.

Wise said the move will enable it to offer additional services to customers.

Alpharetta, GA-based Wise Business Forms announced this week that it has acquired Phoenix Data, Inc., a print supplier based in Montgomery, PA, that specializes in business forms and similar print products. Financial terms of the deal, effective April 30, were not released.

In a statement, Wise said the acquisition will enable it to offer additional services to customers, including prime and industrial labels; digital web-to-print programs for large clients; short-run digitally printed labels; personalized and customized labels; and mosaic designs for short- and long-run labels. Former Phoenix President Larry Lovell will continue with Wise following the acquisition; his position was not disclosed at this time.

The acquisition follows fast on the heels of Wise’s March purchase of Mini Data Forms, a print supplier of checks and other business forms based in Charlotte, NC.

“Both of our recent acquisitions expand our forms business,” said Bill Prettyman, president and CEO of Wise. “Many people might think this is strange, since common wisdom is that the forms business is dying. But the reality is that many, many businesses still need traditional forms, and while labels is the fastest growing area of our business, forms remain the bulk of what we do.”

Prettyman said that Phoenix customers will still be able to get the same products they’ve been sourcing, but with what he described as the added stability and broad range of print products that Wise offers, as well as its traditional and digital-print label capabilities.

Prettyman emphasized that Wise’s recent acquisition activity underscores its commitment to the print market, specifically the traditional supplier-distributor model, amid continued consolidation in both the print and promotional products industries.

“Wise is a multigenerational family business with the third generation now in the business – we aren’t going anywhere,” Prettyman said. “These recent acquisitions reflect that. Wise has been committed to the distributor reseller marketplace for 55 years, and we will continue to serve this market in the future.”
