Terry Town (asi/90913) was continuing work to restore its systems on Tuesday, July 16, company leaders told ASI Media. This was a confirmed ransomware attack and authorities are involved. While initially hopeful that the system would be fully operational by July 16, it’s looking like a few more days may be needed as Terry Town works through the issues.

Original Story

Terry Town (asi/90913), a San Diego-based promotional products supplier, reported Monday, July 15, that it was contending with a cyberbreach.

Esmeralda Anaya, marketing manager at the firm, told ASI Media that the company has access to email and phones but currently can’t get into its full system to perform essential functions like checking order status, shipping or processing orders.

“We have a contingency plan and we’re working it as fast we can to get up and running to meet the needs of our customers,” Anaya said.

Terry Town is aiming to be back to or near full operational status by Tuesday, July 16. Anaya advised distributor customers to email their Terry Town contact with questions or to use sales@terrytown.com. She stressed that available information on orders is limited, at the moment, given the lack of system access.

Details weren’t immediately available on just how the cyberattack on Terry Town occurred, though it appears the breach may have happened over the weekend. Anaya said the company has not engaged with the hackers.

Cyberattacks have been on the rise in the promo products market and across industries.

In April, for instance, ASI Media reported how HALO Branded Solutions (asi/356000), the second-largest distributorship in the industry, suffered a cyberattack. Counselor Top 40 suppliers including Hit Promotional Products (asi/61125), alphabroder (asi/34063) and Bag Makers (asi/37940) have been among those to previously suffer breaches that disrupted business.

Data breaches reportedly tripled between 2013 and 2022, according to research supported by Apple. Research also shows that data breaches increased more than 20% year over year in 2023 compared to 2022.
