“These strategic appointments represent a pivotal investment in our commercial leadership team as we continue to transform our business,” said Toby Whitmoyer, chief commercial officer at S&S Activewear. “Jim, Nick and Bill are bolstering our organization with decades of combined leadership experience.”
Sturgell comes to S&S from US Foods, where he was most recently executive vice president and chief commercial officer for what S&S said was a $38 billion operation. “His expertise in building customer partnerships and creating accountable sales cultures will help us deepen relationships with clients,” the supplier said in a statement.
Blannin spent about 10 years each with Under Armour and Abercrombie & Fitch, gaining extensive global merchandising experience. Roles at Under Armour, where he most recently worked, included vice president of global manufacturing and vice president of manufacturing in North America. “His background in shaping competitive product assortments across e-commerce, retail and wholesale channels will help S&S enhance product strategy,” the company said.
Meanwhile, S&S said Topf combines management consulting expertise from Booz Allen Hamilton with senior leadership experience at multinational adult beverage company Diageo, where his roles included senior vice president of global data and analytics. Topf was also a self-employed business consultant who focused particularly on the adult beverage and consumer packaged goods industries. “Bill will focus on building efficiencies and streamlining operations to drive sustainable growth,” S&S said.
S&S has made a bevy of leadership hires between November and April, including appointing a new chief financial officer. The firm also added talent in Canada.
With estimated 2023 North American promo sales of more than $2.1 billion, S&S Activewear ranked second on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest suppliers in the promotional products industry. Last year, S&S acquired Counselor Top 40 supplier alphabroder (asi/34063). At the time, S&S and alphabroder were ranked two and three respectively on Counselor’s Top 40 supplier list.
