With a lower-priced product line that does particularly well when the economy is volatile and inflation is running high, the revenue for Hit Promotional Products grew almost 5% last year, due mainly, company CEO CJ Schmidt says, “to high stock levels and low lead times.” Schmidt, this year’s Counselor Person of the Year, attributes the company’s ability to outpace the market to his long-standing and vast relationships with Hit’s vendors in China and Hong Kong, and his first-class team, such as industry veteran Jon Norris – this year promoted to chief strategy officer after only 18 months with the company – and tech exec Amy Rabideau, hired earlier this month.
