4 Ways to Improve Your Workday

Try these gadgets and apps to enhance productivity and brighten your mood.

The world of work changed dramatically in the last year, with many salespeople and other professionals transitioning to work-from-home setups. And even after the coronavirus pandemic passes, many have no plans to return to the office. Wherever you make your workspace, however, you should take advantage of the latest gadgets and apps to optimize efficiency and comfort. Try one of these tools to improve your workday.

1. Stand up for your back.

A standing desk can be a great way to break up the monotony of the day, improve focus and alleviate some of the aches and pains associated with office life. “The biggest benefit of a standing desk is that it adds movement variety to our workday,” Dr. Blake Dircksen told CNN. “Our bodies crave movement, and when we are in one position for too long, our bodies start to get achy.”

Most standing desks have a variety of customizable positions and heights, ensuring that your workspace is personalized to your particular needs.

2. Move beyond email for better communication.

Poor management and communication are two of the biggest roadblocks to productivity, but in the digital age, there are so many apps available to overhaul the way we conduct business for the better. Consider trying out a program like Slack, which enhances teamwork, without the pressure of having to learn a complicated app. Perhaps one of its best qualities is that it has a free version, allowing users to decide whether it works for their team before making a big investment. Premium features are specific and based on the size of a team and need for administrative control. Messaging apps like Slack can be a great replacement for endless email chains – streamlining internal communication to enable smarter decision making.

3. Stay cool (or hot) with quality drinkware.

Any promotional products distributor worth their salt knows the power of drinkware. In fact, promotional drinkware gets around 1,400 impressions over its lifetime, according to the 2020 Global Ad Impressions Study from ASI. But have you invested in a high-end insulated tumbler for your own desk? There’s nothing worse than enduring lukewarm coffee (whether it started out piping hot or iced).

4. Treat your team to specially delivered meals.

With COVID cases surging across the country, work lunches have taken a hit, but there are still ways to treat your team to a tasty meal. DoorDash for Work, for example, offers a monthly subscription plan for companies, delivering food from qualifying restaurants anytime, anywhere. If your team is working remotely, surprise them by having a special meal delivered right to their homes. Or offer DoorDash credit, in the form of a gift card, as an incentive. Don’t underestimate the power of a good meal to add to employee satisfaction, or at least satiation.
