Distributor Scores Big With Direct-Mail Sock Promotion
In Camden, ME, Kim and Peter Palermo have found success selling to service-oriented businesses. In particular, the co-owners of Elm Street Marketing Essentials have carved a niche creating standout dimensional direct mail.
That includes a promotion for BerryDunn, an assurance, tax and consulting firm that’s the largest of its kind in Northern New England. When the company needed help building awareness for its Information Technology Assurance consulting service, it looked to the Palermos for a creative and comprehensive marketing solution and a follow-up sales call plan. The duo worked directly with the marketing groups at BerryDunn to brainstorm a direct-mail plan that would send clever packages with service brochures to qualified clients nationally.
BerryDunn developed the brochure content while Elm Street Marketing sourced an argyle-patterned gift box from JP Graphics and custom branded argyle socks from Pop! Promos (asi/45657). The brochure, which was made in-house, featured a colorful insert saying “We’ll work our socks off for you” – a powerful message that tied the entire campaign together and fit perfectly with the BerryDunn brand.
Elm Street Marketing ultimately executed the mailing and BerryDunn consultants followed up with sales calls to mailing recipients.
The client was thrilled with the outcome. “The campaign was received favorably by the target audience, as well as within BerryDunn,” says Christina Dalessio, marketing manager at BerryDunn, adding that it led to new business meetings.
