Counselor Top 40 distributor Geiger (asi/202900) diverted more than 215,000 pounds of waste from landfills last year, thanks to robust recycling programs, a 100% sustainable packaging policy and a zero-landfill philosophy at its Lewiston, ME, headquarters.
That’s just one of the revelations in the company’s 2025 environmental, social and governance (ESG) guide, which underscores and outlines its commitment to environmental responsibility and engagement with communities worldwide.
Geiger (asi/202900) has released its 2025 ESG Guide.
“As Geiger continues to grow globally, so does our responsibility to the environment and the communities we serve,” said David Geiger, president of Geiger. “The 2025 ESG Guide reflects our ongoing commitment to responsible business practices and our dedication to creating meaningful impact for our stakeholders.”
The 2025 guide reflects Geiger’s expanding global presence, with new data and stories from international operations that highlight its dedication to sustainable sourcing and reforestation. Geiger has made a number of international acquisitions in the last few years; earlier this month, in fact, the distributor’s German subsidiary acquired SOESTMEDIA.
Of note in this year’s report, Geiger notes that it is developing science-based emissions reduction targets by 2027 and is expanding Scope 3 greenhouse gas reporting to further align with global climate goals. The distributor has been using UPS carbon-neutral shipping since 2012, and in 2017, it installed Maine’s largest business solar array at its headquarters, generating 100% of the facility’s annual electricity and eliminating approximately 320,000 pounds of carbon emissions each year. In addition, Geiger said it supports responsible forestry through reforestation initiatives including PrintReleaf, which offsets paper use by planting trees where they’re most needed. The distributor notes in the report that it’s had more than 40,000 trees planted on behalf of its customers.
The distributor’s headquarters is LEED Gold certified, and Geiger has achieved EcoVadis Platinum status both in the U.S. and the U.K., placing it among the top 1% of companies assessed by the business sustainability platform.
Giving back is also paramount at Geiger. Programs supported include a partnership with the United Way and the Lewiston SHAREcenter to ensure thriving communities, mentorship through programs like Tree Street Youth and sponsorships for St. Mary’s Health Systems and the Dempsey Challenge.
Based on reported 2023 North American promotional products revenue of $330.3 million, Geiger ranked ninth on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest distributors in the industry. The family-owned firm has more than 600 employees worldwide and is affiliated with more than 450 independent sales representatives.
