Chip Danby Named VP of Sales for EdwardsX
Formerly known as Bishop Custom Clothing, EdwardsX is the custom-apparel division of Top 40 supplier Edwards Garment.
The custom-apparel division of Top 40 supplier Edwards Garment (asi/51752) has a new vice president of sales.
EdwardsX has named promo/apparel industry veteran Chip Danby to the leadership position.
“We are excited to welcome Chip to the team,” said Norman Bishop, president of EdwardsX. “He brings advanced leadership skills, along with strong relationships with the top senior executives in the industry. We’ll be tapping Chip’s impressive knowledge of merchandising and design in the corporate apparel and uniform channels to further fuel our sales growth.”
Danby has previously worked at multiple Counselor Top 40 companies. He was director of promotional products at Top 40 supplier Delta Apparel (asi/49172) for six years, and held a variety of roles, including custom team director, at Top 40 distributor Cintas (asi/162167).
He was also director of sales and marketing at Club Colors and a regional sales director at the business that grew into Superior Group of Companies, which became parent firm to Top 40 distributor BAMKO (asi/131431) some years after Danby worked there. Most recently, he was executive vice president of NAPCO Media, which covers the promo, commercial print and decoration industries.
“EdwardsX is a hidden gem,” Danby said. “The variety of apparel needs we can meet is unparalleled when combined with the power of Edwards stock-apparel offerings. Having started my career with Cintas in merchandising and design, I have watched EdwardsX and Edwards over the years strategically develop their overall offering so they can consistently deliver programs that are retail-inspired and uniform-tested.”
In 2019, Edwards Garment acquired Vancouver, B.C.-based supplier Bishop Custom Clothing, which, as its name indicates, specialized in custom-built apparel. A couple years later, Edwards Garment rebranded Bishop to EdwardsX following what executives described as a successful integration process. Jose Gomez, CEO/president of Edwards Garment, previously told ASI Media that a rise in sales of custom-created apparel helped propel a 41% annual revenue increase for the firm in 2022.
Based on reported 2022 North American promotional product revenue of $99.6 million, Edwards Garment ranked 18th on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest suppliers in the industry.
