Sportsman Cap & Bag Offers Low-Impact Sustainable Knits for Winter
Materials used include organic cotton and recycled polyester.
Top 40 supplier Sportsman Cap & Bag (asi/88877) is adding some green to winter white. The Lenexa, KS-based company has announced the arrival of eco-friendly knits from sustainable Italian brand Atlantis Headwear (asi/37380).
“As Sportsman Cap & Bag brings these sustainable knits to the forefront of the industry, we can collectively contribute to a greener and more responsible future,” said Dan Saferstein, president of Sportsman Cap & Bag.
Atlantis Headwear says it prides itself on extending the life of its fibers and minimizing its environmental footprint through the use of recycled and eco-efficient materials. One such fabric is Polylana, a material that boasts properties akin to acrylic and wool but with reduced environmental impact. Atlantis offers a variety of styles using Polylana, including the PURE, the OAK Sustainable Chunky Rib Knit, the MAPLE Sustainable Finished Edge Knit and the HOLLY Sustainable Beanie.
Organic cotton, cultivated through low-impact methods without the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, is featured in the NELSON Sustainable Knit and the YALA Sustainable Beanie.
Recycled polyester (rPET), which is produced by melting plastic bottles and transforming them into textile, is a key ingredient in the ANDY Sustainable Fine Rib Knit, BIRK Sustainable Fleece Beanie, HOTTY Sustainable Neck Warmer and the trendy ’90s fisherman-style SHORE Sustainable Cable Knit.
“With Atlantis Headwear, styles take on a sense of purpose,” said Federico Pasini, vice president of Atlantis Headwear.
Atlantis Headwear has been making strides with sustainability. Most recently, it announced undergoing year-long lifecycle assessment studies of select styles, as part of efforts to lower its carbon footprint.
Family-owned and operated for over 85 years, Sportsman Cap & Bag ranked 11th on Counselor’s most recent list of the top companies in the industry, with 2022 North American promotional products revenue of $153.4 million.
