B Corp-certified EcoPlum (asi/185835) has another sustainability accolade under its belt.

The New York City-based distributor recently earned a Silver rating from EcoVadis, placing it in the top 10% of all companies rated by the sustainability assessment company. This was the first time EcoPlum completed an assessment with EcoVadis, and the company noted that its score of 68 out of 100 possible points places it in the 91^st percentile of EcoVadis-rated firms.

Gia Machlin, president and CEO of EcoPlum, called the ranking “a major milestone” for her company, adding that it “recognizes the investments we have made in integrating sustainable business practices into everything we do as a company.”

Since its founding in 2007, EcoVadis has grown into one of the largest and most trusted providers of sustainability ratings. The company has screened more than 2 million companies and created a global network of more than 130,000 rated enterprises in over 220 industries across 180 countries. EcoVadis outlines its mission as “providing reliable, globally recognized sustainability ratings and insights, enabling companies to reduce risk, drive improvement and accelerate positive impact on the planet and society.”

EcoVadis provides ratings and scorecards to companies as an assessment tool for evaluating how well it has integrated sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices into its operations. The scorecard demonstrates performance in 21 indicators across four broad themes: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

With its Silver medal, EcoPlum joins a growing number of promotional products companies using EcoVadis’ assessment tool. Earlier this year, Top 40 distributor Geiger (asi/202900) received a Gold ranking for its headquarters (with a Platinum rating announced in 2023 for its U.K. operations). Other promo firms with EcoVadis medals include Top 40 distributors Overture Promotions (asi/288473) and Nadel (asi/279600), which both recently announced Silver rankings.

EcoPlum, which curates a line of “Sustainable Swag,” has received a variety of certifications over the years. The distributor received B Corp certification in 2022. Plus, it’s triple-certified as a women-owned enterprise by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), New York state (NYS MWBE) and New York City (M/WBE). The distributor joined the Plastic Pollution Coalition to help end plastic waste and is also a member of the American Sustainable Business Network (ASBN), the Fair Labor Association (FLA) and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.
