ASB Announces Tech Team Promotions
The Top 40 distributor named Mike Schmitz vice president of technology and Eric Gorghuber as executive director of ERP.
Top 40 distributor American Solutions for Business (ASB; asi/120075) is shoring up its technology team, with the announcement of two promotions: Mike Schmitz to vice president of technology and Eric Gorghuber to executive director of enterprise resource planning (ERP).
The promotions will help keep ASB’s technology “on the cutting edge of our industry,” said Justin Zavadil, president of ASB and a member of the Counselor Power 50. He added that Schmitz has been integral to the company’s success as a pioneer in developing its e-commerce system, and Gorghuber was instrumental in captaining the ASB’s PeopleSoft technical team.
Schmitz joined ASB in 2001 and has held many roles there, including lead architect and developer, application development manager and senior director of e-commerce. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a master’s in management from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.
Schmitz said he’s excited to take on the new role to help optimize robust systems and ensure a scalable and efficient infrastructure. “My vision includes implementing technologies that enhance user experiences, streamline processes and ultimately contribute to the overall success of our business,” he added.
During his tenure with ASB, Gorghuber has served as senior PeopleSoft developer, also holding director and senior director titles in that role. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from Bemidji State University.
“I’m looking forward to positioning our ERP PeopleSoft system to scale with the growth of ASB and the needs of our sales force,” Gorghuber said.
Based on reported 2022 North American promotional product revenue of $273.6 million, American Solutions for Business ranked 12th on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest distributors in the industry. Founded in 1981, ASB is an employee-owned company. The firm announced earlier this month that it’s launching a new division, headed by a former Nike sales pro, to expand business in the team sports and golf markets.
