Rainkist Umbrellas and its parent company Futai Inc. has been permanently closed and is no longer taking orders, according to auto-respond emails being sent from the company. The supplier has been shut down since Feb. 1.

According to the Rainkist website, Futai was once one of the world’s largest umbrella manufacturers, holding more than 50 patents. Futai USA was founded in 1953 with 10 employees and grew to employ more than 3,600 people worldwide at one time.

Though the Rainkist website is still live, many of the links are nonfunctional, and much of the information is not up to date.

The supplier notes in its auto-respond email that it will be in touch “to solve pending issues” and advises anyone with questions or concerns to  contact them at contact@futaiusa.com.
