CPSC Recalls Tiffany & Co. Mugs

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an official recall for crystal mugs from New York-based Tiffany & Co. The mugs can crack or break when exposed to hot liquids, posing a laceration risk. The company has received six reports of breakage when hot liquid was poured into the mugs, though no injuries have been reported.

The recalled 11-oz. Wheat Leaf Crystal mugs, made by STEKLARNA ROGAŠKA D.D. in Slovenia and imported by Tiffany and Company, measure approximately 3.5” tall and 3” in diameter. Each mug features an etched wheat leaf pattern and has a blue sticker that reads “TIFFANY & CO. Made in Slovenia. CRYSTAL GLASS.” The text “TIFFANY & CO. 13559” appears on the bottom.

An estimated 3,300 mugs were sold at Tiffany & Co. stores, at www.tiffany.com, in the Tiffany & Co. 2017 Home and Accessories catalog and through the “Tiffany For Business” sales channel in the U.S. from October 2017 through December 2017 for about $60 each.

Consumers are advised to stop using the mugs immediately, and to contact Tiffany & Co. for a full refund and a $100 gift card. Consumers can bring the defective product to a local Tiffany & Co. store; return it using a pre-paid return shipping label provided by the company; or contact Tiffany & Co. to dispatch a shipping carrier to the consumer’s location to pick up the mug. The company is also contacting consumers directly.

Tiffany & Co. can be reached at (800) 843-3269 from 8 a.m. until midnight EST Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. EST on weekends, or at www.tiffany.com.

No ASI-listed companies were named in the recall.
