Delta Apparel Hires New CFO
Simone Walsh replaces Deborah Merrill at the Top 40 promotional products supplier.
Delta Apparel (asi/49172), a Top 40 promotional products supplier, has a new chief financial officer.
Simone Walsh takes over the executive role at the Greenville, SC-based firm. She also holds the titles of treasurer and vice president.
“We are delighted to have Simone join our team,” said Delta Apparel CEO Robert W. Humphreys. “She has extensive expertise in accounting, finance, operations and global strategy. In addition, her international business experience, combined with a deep understanding of tax strategies, will be of great benefit to propel the company in its continued growth and profitability.”
In the CFO position, Walsh is replacing Deborah Merrill, who has resigned after more than 20 years at Delta Apparel. Merrill will continue working with the company through Jan. 22, 2022, to ensure an orderly transition of her responsibilities to Walsh.
“On behalf of the entire board and management team, I would like to thank Deb for her dedication and valuable contributions during her 23-year career at Delta Apparel,” said Humphreys. “Deb has played a significant role in improving our financial and operational performance. We wish her the best in her future endeavors and are pleased that she will remain with the company into 2022.”
Before joining Delta Apparel, Walsh was vice president/deputy controller at Novelis Inc. for about a year. Prior to that, she was chief accounting officer, controller and principal accounting officer of PRGX Global Inc. from April 2019 to September 2020, as well as vice president-finance from August 2017 to April 2019.
Her career, which she began as a public accountant with Ernst & Young and Deloitte, includes a number of other high-profile financial leadership roles, including serving as senior director of finance, home services, for The Home Depot. Walsh is both an Australian and British-chartered accountant.
With estimated 2020 North American promo product revenue of $40.8 million, Delta Apparel ranks 35th on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest suppliers in the industry.
