S&S Canada Opens New Toronto Distribution Center
The larger facility combines the supplier’s Eastern operations.
Anjou, QC-based S&S Canada (asi/90703) will officially open a new distribution center in Toronto on Aug. 16. The 280,000-square-foot facility will now handle all company operations in Eastern Canada that have so far been split between the company’s headquarters in Quebec and an older building in Toronto.
Executives say the move will streamline operations and get product into the hands of customers more quickly. S&S Canada also has an eye to create 75 new jobs based at the facility, to bring the total number of employees in its Eastern operations to 200.
“Because of Toronto’s central location, we’ve been working hard to group our Eastern warehousing operations in the city,” said S&S Chief Operating Officer Frank Myers, in a statement. “With this new building, we will more than double the amount of inventory we can distribute across our Canadian network while also extending our one-day shipping zone throughout all of Eastern Canada.” He added that the customer buying experience will be more streamlined, since the new facility allows for quicker stocking, more SKUs and deeper inventory. That means fewer split shipments and better order accuracy.
The soon-to-be-opened building in Woodbridge, ON, features LED lighting, an automated conveyance system and wire guidance for forklifts.
In addition, the company will also be relocating its Quebec headquarters within Anjou, a neighborhood of Montreal, in anticipation of continued hiring efforts. The larger location on Boulevard des Galeries d’Anjou will house the company’s customer service, marketing, accounting and sales teams.
“Taken together, these moves represent an exciting period of development for S&S Canada and our valued clients,” said Myers. “We really feel like we’re nicely positioned for the future.”
It’s the latest development in what’s been a busy year for S&S Canada. The company opened a facility in Calgary earlier this year to better serve customers in the Prairies. Formerly Technosport Canada, the supplier was acquired by Top 40 supplier S&S Activewear (asi/84358) in 2019 and the rebrand as S&S Canada was made official in September 2020.
With $1.4 billion in North American promotional products revenue, S&S Activewear ranked third on Counselor’s most recent list of the 40 largest suppliers in the industry.
