Augusta Sportswear Reports Progress Following Factory Fire
A blaze ripped through the apparel supplier’s facility in Champotón, Mexico, and the firm has been working hard to get affected product and orders back on track.

The Georgia-headquartered promotional products apparel supplier suffered a big blow the night of April 18 when a fire erupted at its factory in Champotón, Mexico. Thankfully, no injuries or deaths were reported, and employees were accounted for.
Still, production and fulfillment of sublimation orders, wool jackets and some football styles, all made at the facility, were seriously disrupted. Since the fire, Augusta said it has been working hard to get things back on track, and an update issued a week after the blaze noted that progress has been made.
“Our team has been working tirelessly to rebook all impacted sublimated orders to our other sublimation facility,” said Derek Ernst, chief commercial officer, in the update. “Over 80% of orders have now been updated with a new delivery date”
Ernst added that if an order has a new order date, customers will be able to find this information on their customer dashboard under the “My Orders” section. The customer dashboard can be accessed by clients using their username/login on the Augusta sportswear website: augustasportswear.com and augustasportswear.ca.
Ernst shared that some orders were still waiting to be rescheduled, as the company moves equipment needed to accommodate them into another sublimation facility. Augusta was aiming to have those orders updated by the end of the week of April 25.
In the event that new delivery dates won’t make a client’s deadline, Ernst encouraged distributors to contact their local Augusta sales representatives for alternative solutions.
“Please know that our team has done everything possible to get you the fastest possible delivery date,” Ernst said. “This has been a very difficult week for our team. But in trying times, good people do their best work. Personally, I have been incredibly inspired by the work of our team and the care and compassion that we have received from our customers.”
