Founded in a garage in 2005, Fairware began with a vision to “change the world through the simple act of buying.” Milestones in the company’s journey include becoming, in 2010, the first promotional products distributor to achieve B Corp certification. The distributor also earned recognition as being woman-owned and LGBTQ+-owned, and has strongly emphasized equity and inclusion.

“From our humble beginnings to becoming a global leader, we’ve always believed that merchandise should do more than promote a brand – it should reflect its values and drive meaningful change,” said Denise Taschereau, CEO and co-founder of Fairware.

Fairware’s latest report details company achievements across five key areas:

  • Responsible Sourcing: Fairware said its Supplier Code of Conduct ensures every partner meets rigorous standards for labor practices, environmental certifications and diverse ownership. In 2024, 42.5% of significant product sales featured certified sustainable attributes, such as recycled or organic content.
  • Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion: Fairware said it has implemented anti-bias training, maintained its Living Wage certification and has continued to foster an inclusive workplace.
  • Community Impact: In 2024, 56% of staff volunteered, contributing over 500 hours of service. Fairware also reinvested 10% of profits into community initiatives and donated over $4,700 in merchandise.
  • Advocacy: As a Clean Creatives pledge signatory, Fairware said it refuses to work with fossil fuel clients and actively champions systemic change in the industry.
  • Environmental Responsibility: Committed to reaching net-zero emissions by 2040, Fairware planted over 32,000 kelp in 2024 through its #helpthekelp initiative with veritree, advancing ocean restoration efforts.

Looking forward, Fairware has set goals that include halving its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero by 2040, expanding supplier reporting on carbon impacts for greater transparency and expanding its inclusive hiring practices.
