Top 40 distributor Cintas (asi/162167) is getting accolades for its efforts to create a diverse and inclusive workplace.

The Cincinnati-based company, best known for its uniform rental and facility services business, was ranked 318th on the Forbes list of the Best Employers for Diversity 2024, an award presented by Forbes and Statista.

“Diversity is a crucial part of our culture and success here at Cintas,” said Todd Schneider, Cintas president and CEO. “When we uplift and empower our employee-partners, we see innovation, solutions and better outcomes for our organization. We are thrilled to be recognized for this significant achievement.”

The Best Employers for Diversity 2024 were identified in an independent survey from a sample of more than 170,000 U.S.-based employees working for companies employing at least 1,000 people in the U.S. The evaluation was based on three criteria: personal recommendations, public recommendations and key performance indicators (KPIs). Employees were asked to give their opinions on a series of statements regarding age, gender, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQIA+ and general diversity in their current workplace. Participants were also given the chance to evaluate other employers in their respective industries that stand out either positively or negatively with regard to diversity. Plus, extensive research evaluated how companies fared across a range of diversity-related best practices, including things like representation, accountability and communication, internal initiatives and external involvement.

This is the seventh year in a row Forbes has put together this list, which ranks the 500 companies that scored highest in its evaluation. Among the top 10 companies on the list are insurance company Progressive, banking and financial services company PayPal, and software company Salesforce.

“This award reflects our efforts in fostering a diverse work environment and shows how our employee-partners can see and feel the positive impact it makes,” said Max Langenkamp, senior vice president of human resources and chief diversity officer at Cintas. “Bringing diverse experiences and perspectives helps us be better equipped for a changing landscape to better serve our customers and our employee-partners.”

This is the second time this year that Cintas has been recognized for its diversity efforts; it was also named by Newsweek as being one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity.

In its fiscal year 2023, Cintas grew total company revenue 12% on an annual basis to $8.8 billion. Based on estimated 2022 North American promotional product revenue of $199.1 million, Cintas ranked 16th on Counselor’s most recent list of the largest distributors in the industry.
