It’s a match made in Maryland, with Maryland Brand Management (MD-Brand, asi/263443) adding another lifestyle brand to its portfolio.

The Baltimore-headquartered company announced that it has acquired Route One Apparel, a Towson, MD-based business that makes clothing and accessories themed around pride in the Old Line State, along with custom decorated apparel. Financial terms of the deal were not released.

MD-Brand operates in the branded apparel/promotional products market and also sells eight lifestyle brands through retail and wholesale channels. Those brands include Puppie Love, Kittie Kittie, Wear MD, Live Oak Brand and now Route One Apparel, among others.

Going forward, MD-Brand is overseeing all Route One Apparel operations, logistics and growth initiatives. The firm is retaining current Route One Apparel staff and relocating the brand’s operations to MD-Brand’s 75,000-square-foot location in Baltimore.

Ali von Paris founded Route One Apparel in her dorm room at the University of Maryland in 2010.

These days, the company offers more than 3,000 products and designs with Maryland themes. Route One sells online and through select retailers while also operating in the promotional products market through providing custom apparel solutions. Von Paris is joining MD-Brand as chief visionary officer, focusing on promotion, strategic partnerships, community outreach and being a brand ambassador.

“Ali and her team have built a wonderful company that is beloved by its customers and community,” said MD-Brand President Garrett Pfeifer in a statement. “We are happy to give Ali the support she needs to continue pursuing her passion for the creative and promotional aspects of the business while we focus on expanding capabilities to prepare for even more product lines and enhanced customer service.”

Von Paris is pumped to be joining MD-Brand.

“To ensure our continued growth, it has become necessary to bring in a strategic partner,” she said in a statement. “I’m excited to pass the operations and logistics of Route One Apparel to Garrett Pfeifer and MD-Brand, as I know this move will give us additional resources, including a significantly larger footprint and increased production capabilities, to meet our current demand for custom products and pursue even more growth opportunities.”

Beyond screen printing and embroidery, MD-Brand’s in-house decoration solutions include direct-to-garment and direct-to-film digital printing, as well as sublimation printing on technical performance fabrics. The company provides merchandise to retail stores and other customers in all 50 states while operating eight e-commerce stores out of its Baltimore warehouse.
