Wilson, a senior account manager, joined the company in 1996 and led Genumark’s Winnipeg office. At the beginning of his career in the late 1970s, he was a sales manager for Xerox Reproduction Centres, part of Xerox of Canada. He then founded an instant printing business, Paper Chasers, that he ran for 15 years with his father before joining Genumark.
Born in Toronto, the Wilson family moved to Winnipeg in 1970. As a member of the Winnipeg Wasps Rugby Club in 1975, Wilson met his future wife Betty, who would go on to work alongside him at Genumark’s Winnipeg office as an account manager for more than 25 years. Sons James and Jonathan have since joined their parents as account managers in Winnipeg.
Together, the Wilsons enjoyed cooking, traveling and spending time at West Hawk Lake, MB.
“He was a loving father, a beloved ‘papa’ to his four grandchildren and a loyal friend,” says the family. “He was deeply proud of his work and the long-lasting friendships he built throughout his career. He sincerely admired and respected all of the people he worked with. It is evident through the outpouring of love that this admiration was shared. His impact on the industry was truly remarkable and the legacy he left will continue on with his beloved Genumark family.”
The son of the late Freda and John, Wilson is survived by Betty, his wife of 44 years; children Michael (Hillary), James (Lena), Jonathan (Daria) and Michelle (Neal); grandchildren Nikolai, Zhenya, Nina and Anna; siblings Julie (Moses) and Michael (Jolyne); nephews and nieces Aaron (Kirsten), Matthew (Megan), Sarah, Joshua, Vanessa, Nicole, Samuel and Marquis; and dog Rave.
“Dave was a powerhouse sales leader in Canada, and had a wonderful career at Genumark,” says CEO Mitch Freed. “He took so much pride in his career and even brought his wonderful family to Genumark. Everyone loved working with Dave and the passion he brought to our business still lives in his sons. Genumark will miss him terribly and we are so grateful his legacy lives on through James and Jonathan.”
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
