ASB Hires Michael Conway as E-Commerce Executive
A founding member of PromoStandards with extensive industry experience, Conway will help the Top 40 distributor optimize its digital offerings.
Top 40 distributor American Solutions for Business (ASB, asi/120075) is doubling down on digital first, with the hiring of Michael Conway as senior director of e-commerce.
In this role, Conway will be responsible for developing and implementing ASB’s strategic e-commerce plan, which entails building and nurturing a best-in-class digital team to optimize the process and drive new ways of working with a digital-first approach, according to the Glenwood, MN-based company. Conway will help enhance and improve ASB’s e-commerce offering, ensuring it aligns with the firm’s overall objective and goals.
“I’m thrilled to have Michael join our e-commerce team,” said Mike Schmitz, vice president of technology at ASB. “His expertise will enrich our promotional products experience on the e-commerce platform.”
Prior to joining ASB, Conway worked as the managing director of digital transformation for a consulting company, which Schmitz said, “helps him bring fresh perspectives into how we might better improve many of our processes.”
Conway also has experience in the promo products industry, working for two years as the executive director for APIs and integrations for ASI. He also spent several years at Top 40 supplier PCNA (asi/66887) in technology positions. In addition, he’s one of the founding members of PromoStandards, a nonprofit organization committed to improving supply chain and transactional efficiencies in the promo industry.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the University of Queensland in Australia.
Conway expressed excitement at joining the ASB team, adding that it’s a name that’s been familiar to him throughout his tenure in the promo industry “as one where people succeed, is a great place to work and that has a culture that I know fits me well.”
He added that he is looking forward to bringing his supplier and service-provider perspective to the Top 40 distributor. “At my core, I love getting into the process of asking the ‘why, what and how’ questions to uncover business opportunities and then finding the appropriate place and means for technology to unlock them,” Conway said. “I can’t wait to get started.”
Founded in 1981, ASB ranked 12th on Counselor’s most recent list of the top distributors in the industry, with 2022 North American promotional products revenue of $273.6 million. The company was also named a 2024 Counselor Best Place to Work earlier this year.
