The ASI Promocar Is On The Road Again

Promotional industry’s moving billboard travels to Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and New York

TREVOSE, PA – July 31, 2017 – Covered inside and out with nearly 1,000 logoed items, the ASI Promocar is on the road again, continuing a three-year PR campaign to drive positive publicity to the $23 billion promotional products industry.

The Advertising Specialty Institute® (ASI) created the moving billboard and the “Driving Serious Fun” campaign to spread the word about the industry’s creativity and ingenuity. To date, the Promocar has traveled to 19 states, including a 2,700 mile cross-country trip from California to New Jersey. Most recently, the car was displayed at a benefit car show to raise money for a playground for autistic children.

The ASI Promocar is a 2002 Mazda Protégé covered with a colorful array of promotional products donated by ASI suppliers, including logoed slinkys, stress balls, cellphone holders, flip-flops, keychains, pens, car magnets, patches, celebrity face cutouts, USBs, lanyards, pinwheels, can coolers and T-shirts.

Follow the car on its latest trip, which includes visits to member companies in Pennsylvania, Michigan and New York, using hashtag #ASIpromocar and by viewing videos and photos posted to ASI’s Facebook. Click here to watch ASI’s first “Promocar Talk” interview with ASI Market Research Director Nate Kucsma.

“ASI’s unique take on mobile advertising is a fun way to show off our industry’s creativity and ingenuity during an old-fashioned summertime road trip,” said Timothy M. Andrews, president and chief executive officer of ASI. “In our increasingly digital age, it’s great to get out of the office, meet face-to-face with members, talk with people along the way about the most affordable, effective advertising medium around and, of course, to give away some logoed products.”

Everywhere the Promocar goes, people are invited to sign the inside of the car.

The lightweight plastic and foam promotional items covering the car were securely adhered with GE Silicone II glue. To date, the car has been driven nearly 7,000 miles to promote the industry.

Below are suppliers who most recently donated items to the ASI Promocar. Suppliers who wish to donate a logoed product to the car, or member companies who’d like to take a spin in the Promocar should email the driver, ASI PR Manager Dawn Marie at press@asicentral.com.
