Episode 88: Lessons From the Sports Industry
Proforma’s new social media specialist discusses what he’s learned after a decade working for pro sports teams like the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Mike Ross is no stranger to success. Before joining Top 40 distributor Proforma (asi/300094), the social media and public relations specialist spent several years working for the reigning Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning as their community hockey coordinator. And for his efforts, Ross earned not one, but two Stanley Cup rings, a perk all employees of the team enjoyed for their hard work and dedication to the franchise during its back-to-back titles.
“There’s nothing more that I’d love to do than talk about that experience,” says Ross, still glowing from last year’s run. “I’m in Tampa and it’s everywhere. This is a hockey city!”
But Ross, who is as humble as he is motivated, has moved on and is now hoping to bring his wealth of practical social media experience to the Proforma family.
“With social media, you have to be everywhere and nowhere at the same exact time.” Mike Ross, Proforma
In the latest episode of the Social Angle podcast, ASI Media’s Vinnie Driscoll chats with Ross about everything, including the lessons he learned while working for a very successful professional sports franchise, as well as his early impressions of the promo industry.
The two also make Super Bowl LVI predictions, so don’t miss this jam-packed episode!
