Lewandowski, general manager of BEL Promo (asi/39552), was instrumental in launching the ASI Shows in the 1990s and has become a sought-after industry expert and mentor.
Susan Lewandowski has seen a lot of change in the industry.
When she first started in the 1990s with ASI, employees didn’t even have computers on their desks yet. “We made a lot of phone calls,” she says. “We talked to people and built relationships that way. It was a lot different.”
From supplier sales and special projects, Lewandowski eventually moved into ASI’s burgeoning trade show division and helped establish the ASI Shows.
“It was amazing,” she says. “It was fun, exciting, scary. We literally had six weeks to launch a show. I had the honor of working with Matthew [Cohn]. It was fun to see something from nothing, to watch the floor be transformed into a beautiful experience.”
