HanesBrands Donates $1M in Underwear to Hurricane Victims

Nonprofit Delivering Good will distribute the apparel to relief agencies.

HanesBrands (asi/59528), a global apparel maker whose basics sell throughout the promotional products industry, has announced that the company is donating more than 225,000 pairs of underwear to assist Hurricane Dorian victims in the Bahamas and coastal North Carolina.

The Winston-Salem, NC-based company is partnering with the nonprofit Delivering Good to distribute essential basic apparel valued at more than $1 million to storm and flood victims who have lost homes, endured relocation and separation from families, suffered extended power outages and many other hardships in the wake of the hurricane and associated flooding.

The Hanes, Champion, Bali and Maidenform apparel – including underwear for men, women and children – is being shipped from the company’s distribution centers in Rural Hall, NC, and Perris, CA. Delivering Good, a relief charity that helps the apparel industry aid those in need, will arrange for the Hanesbrands garments to go to relief agencies, including several agencies in the Bahamas and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, in Charlotte, NC, which is assisting residents of the state.

“HanesBrands and its employees continue to be longtime supporters of those in need here and around the world,” Chris Fox, vice president of corporate social responsibility at HanesBrands, said in a press release. “We know that victims of natural disasters have a tremendous need for the basics in life, including shelter, food, water and clothing. And we are happy to spread some ‘Hanes For Good’ to assist in the long road to recovery after Hurricane Dorian.”
