While offering free drop-shipping is a popular marketing tactic in the promotional products industry, Top 40 supplier The Magnet Group (asi/68507) is taking customer service one step further.

The Atlanta-based company has announced that it’s offering free freight for orders of business card magnets – its top-selling magnets – effectively immediately.

“Because of buying habits influenced by Amazon, a free freight mentality already exists in the retail space,” says Dan Jellinek, executive vice president of The Magnet Group. “We want to dip our foot in the water and try to change some dynamics of our industry. It creates an easier buying experience for distributors and presents the opportunity for them to potentially make more money.”

The free freight offer is available for catalog quantities only and runs through December 31, 2020. Based on the success with business card magnets, Jellinek says the company may offer the service for other categories on the brand/import side of its business.

The Magnet Group ranked No. 12 in the 2019 Counselor Top 40 Suppliers list, with revenue last year of $117.9 million.
