PCNA Updates EcoSmart Program

The Top 40 supplier is doubling down on its eco-friendly initiative.

Top 40 supplier Polyconcept North America (PCNA, asi/78897) announced it has refreshed its EcoSmart program to meet the needs of a new generation of consumers eager for eco-friendly products and opportunities.

EcoSmart was established more than 10 years ago, when PCNA subsidiary Leed’s (asi/66887) became one of the first suppliers to offer eco-friendly promotional products. EcoSmart includes more than 50 items constructed from recycled materials, along with products that are reusable alternatives to items normally thrown away after one use, such as plastic straws and silverware. The offering also includes retail brands like Parkland, which makes backpacks and other bags from recycled water bottles, and FinalStraw, a manufacturer of collapsible reusable stainless-steel straws.

PCNA now has a membership with 1% For The Planet, an organization whose mission is to build an alliance of businesses financially committed to creating a healthier planet. PCNA has agreed to donate 1% of sales from all EcoSmart products directly to environmental nonprofits. 1% For The Planet connects member companies with organizations that align with their values and brand. To provide transparency, they certify member contributions by reviewing and confirming sales and donation details. As a part of 1% For The Planet, PCNA joins a group of inspiring environmentally-conscious companies that includes Patagonia, New Belgium Brewing and others.

“Our customers have been loud and clear – interest in eco-friendly products has never been greater,” David Nicholson, president of PCNA, said in a press release. “PCNA is not only offering the largest selection of these products, but we’re building on the EcoSmart legacy by taking the small actions that add up to a more eco-friendly future. And we hope to inspire our customers and colleagues to join us in making better choices for the planet.”

With reported 2018 North American promotional product revenue of $654.1 million, PCNA ranked fourth on Counselor’s latest list of the largest suppliers in the industry. In February, Polyconcept named Neil Ringel as the company’s new CEO.
