Top 40 distributor DiscountMugs (asi/181120) is the latest promo firm giving back to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The South Florida-based company has donated 11,000 reusable surgical masks to low-income seniors in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, WSVN 7News reported. DiscountMugs partnered with IMC Health Medical Centers to make sure recipients had the necessary protective gear to follow coronavirus protection guidelines.

“We know that the public is having a hard time finding masks,” said Sai Koppaka, CEO of DiscountMugs in a press release. “In our conversations with IMC, we understood that patients were concerned about not having them and experiencing anxiety as a result. We are pleased that we were able to step in and provide them for this vulnerable population.”

The masks will be delivered to patients’ homes along with a note explaining how to use the mask safely and a contact number if they have any questions.

“Given our sourcing experience worldwide we were able to leverage our supplier relationships to find a source in China with a supply of these masks,” Koppaka added. “We’ve seen demand from our customers in the healthcare field and other essential industries trying to operate in a COVID-19 environment.”

As many traditional markets have dried up during the past couple months of social distancing, distributors have turned to sourcing personal protective equipment (PPE) to serve their clients.
