BirdieBox Relaunches Under New Leadership
Citing “instability and organizational strain” under old ownership, an existing investor in BirdieBox – Spring Hollis of Star Strong Capital – has taken over as interim CEO of the company.
Key Takeaways
• BirdieBox has appointed Spring Hollis – CEO of its investor Star Strong Capital – as interim CEO to guide the company through a strategic turnaround following recent organizational challenges.
• The company also re-engaged co-founder and former Chief Strategy Officer Michael Myers to help refocus the firm on its original principles and rebuild trust with clients, vendors and employees.
BirdieBox (asi/40603) is starting fresh.
The company – which largely focuses on corporate gifting services like kitting, decoration and fulfillment – announced it has new ownership and leadership following a period of “instability and organizational strain that impacted customers, vendors and employees,” BirdieBox said in a statement.
Spring Hollis, CEO of Star Strong Capital, a private investment firm that BirdieBox partnered with last year for a capital raise, took over as BirdieBox’s interim CEO in May. The company has also reconnected with co-founder and former Chief Strategy Officer Michael Myers to help BirdieBox transition forward.
“We believe in this brand’s mission, its people and its potential,” said Hollis. “Our team has the expertise and appetite for the challenge that turnarounds demand. BirdieBox has a great product – it simply lacked the stewardship to deliver with excellence. That changes now.”
The company is now doing business as BirdieBox Holdings, with headquarters in Irving, Texas. Since the spring, there have been several leadership and operational staffing changes at the firm, including the departures of former CEO Pat Depirro and former Chief Branding Officer/CRO Chrissy Dunlap.
“BirdieBox was a special place built on a foundation of client trust and an unwavering quest to craft the perfect user experience,” Myers said. “Somewhere along the way, those things became secondary. It’s time to return to the principles of transparency, integrity and execution that once had this company on a fast track to greatness, and this is the leadership team to do just that.”
