Getting It First and Getting It Right

For over 65 years, ASI has set the standard for editorial excellence and professionalism in the promotional products industry. To date, ASI Media – which now includes our digital operation – has been honored with nearly 275 journalism awards, with ASI magazines the only industry publications to ever win a prestigious Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Award, considered the Pulitzer Prize of the business press.
Most recently, ASI won three more Neal Awards, earning a record 11 finalist nominations in eight different categories, along with five more national awards for excellence from the American Society of Business Publication Editors.
As a former journalist for Dow Jones & Co., publisher of The Wall Street Journal, and someone who started his own little local mimeographed newspaper in third grade, all of these editorial honors mean a great deal to me, personally and professionally. I’m beyond proud of the ASI teams who produce breaking news, analysis, research, informative podcasts, social media and other digital content on behalf of all our members – members who rely on us to get it first and get it right.
For thousands in the industry, our content is also a lifeline to sales strategies, case studies and online resources that can help them become more successful, productive and profitable.
That’s a lot of pressure on our small team, led by the indomitable ASI Vice President Michele Bell (@ASI_MBell), who works with Editor-in-Chief C.J. Mittica and supports the team to get the very best from every journalist, editor, designer, researcher and tweeter in the ASI Media group.
For the last year, our determined team redoubled their efforts to guarantee an industry struggling under a historic pandemic, quarantine and economic freefall had access to every breaking news flash, merger, unfortunate closing, major PPE delivery and donation.
Those efforts often meant working nights, weekends and even holidays, staying in near-constant touch with their industry sources, being there to listen to and share their stories – the good and the sad – and to report industry news as quickly, fairly and accurately as humanly possible.
That’s what all those national awards really mean – a public acknowledgement of quality journalism, for reports on subjects that matter: The unprecedented pivot to life-saving PPE. The trust those products rightly earned from the public. The sudden transition to working from home. Shipping woes. Supply chain breakdowns. Ransomware attacks. The list goes on.
And as the recovery of our nation and our industry continues, our team will be right there at the forefront, delivering news, information and content to all of you, as best as we possibly can.
